I have a K&N filter and intake could the sound be from that? Could there be a small hole in a vacume tube. how can i test my vacume system to pin point a leak. ? any info would be great thanks

Message: I hear that sound as well, mine is caused by my air intake and filter. To find out where yours is open the hood and pull the throttle to let the engine rev up and listen to where it comes from!

Message: I believe the sound that you are hearing is just the sound of all that extra air being sucked in through the intake. My 97 5.2 started doing it as soon as I put my K&N FIPK 2 in....

Message: it's a normal noise, when you get rid of the stock air hat you can hear that noise, i have a ram 2500 van with the 360 at work and it has a 14" round air cleaner (which is stock) and it makes the same noise and the ram van is a 2001 too. My v6 made that noise when i had a 10" round air cleaner on it, it's just the sound of what i figure is the idle air control valve pulling more under load such as with the a/c on, probably to help adjust the mixture some. In my past experiences with cold air intakes especially the k&n unit there is more intake noise due to less air flow restriction and less baffling near the TB opening, there is always a plus and minus to everything unfortunately this noise is one of them. it can be annoying with the a/c on and in the morning when the vehicle is cold but all i can say is deal with it or put back the stock air hat and get an intake that attaches to the stock air hat, the stock air hat muffles all that noise but at the same time kills air flow so the choice is yours....... a little more noise..... or...... a little less performance.
