Subject: Synthetic Gear Lube in LSlip Axle ?
IP: Logged

Message:
I want to switch to synthetic gear lube in my
5-Speed transmission, and in the Rear Axle.

The rear axle is a limited slip axle, and I have
seen references to adding "friction modifiers"
to limited slip axle grease for it to work correctly.
Can someone tell me what synthetic gear lube would be recommended and where to get it ?

i have redline 75w90 in both diffs it has the friction modifier already in it - it's also easier to change diff fluid if you use a suction gun to drain you wont have to remove the cover - i beleive i got it online at synlube.com

I looked at synlube.com,
and the synthetic gear lube is $35.00 per quart !

How many quarts does the rear differential
and 5-speed transmission hold ?

Check Mobil 1 and Amsoil. I think they are both suitable for limited slip applications as are others.

Give Summit Racing a call!! I think they sell the redline products for $9 a quart. Put the Redline MTL in transmission; put the friction modified gear lube in the rear end and unmodified gear lube in the front diff.
