Subject: P0442, P0711 Codes IP: Logged
Message: I have a 2003 Dodge Dakota 3.9 V6 Automatic. 80K miles. My question is-- I checked to see if there were any codes and it came up with a P0442 "EVAP emission control system" and P0711 code "Transmission Fluid temperature sensor circuit, range or performance." What does this mean and what do I need to do to fix or correct it? Thanks!
Note. The Malfunction Indicator Light comes on and remains on while driving.

Message: On the P0442 code, make sure your gas cap is tight, if it is, the gas cap could be bad. That would most likely solve that problem. I don't know too much on the P0711 code though.

Message: Had P0441 before, that was a large emissions system leak. Was EVAP purge pump, cost 125$.
P0442 is the medium leak. Check the gas cap tightness, make sure the seal is still in good condition, and check for cracked hoses in the emmissions system.
