Subject: Engine light - need help IP: Logged
Message: Has anyone ever heard of or had an engine light stay on but no codes are throw? My 01 4.7 Dak had an issue this week - the crank sensor went bad, stalled the truck out and threw a MIL code. I had my mechanic change out the crank sensor but the engine light stays on - He ran his scan tool on it, reset the PCM, and numerous other diagnostics but the light will remain on and no codes come up.
- Possibility the truck needs a new computer?
- What else could cause the check engine light to stay on but show no codes when scanned?
Guys - Your help is greatly appreciated. My babies in the shop and we dont know whats wrong with her. Please toss your thoughts out so I can avoid going to the stealer-ship as my warranty just ran out and dont feel like forking over tons of $$ to them.
thanks

Message: Go out to your truck with paper and pencil and turn the ignition key ON-OFF-ON-OFF-ON, without starting it of course, and let us know exactly what, and in what order, gets displayed in the odometer readout.
