Subject: 1010tires.com tire/wheel warning?
IP: Logged

Message:
On 1010tires.com, the tire/wheel calculator gives a warning that diameters over 3% greater than your OEM may result in brake failure.
Why do they say that?
What did you guys do when you bought >3% larger wheels?

Thanks

probably due to the increase in rotating mas from the bigger tire/wheel combo. they are trying to cover their @ss in case of a law suit.

Nothing. My current tires (measured on the truck) are 29" tall vs. the stock size programmed into the PCM, 27.75". That's a 4.5% difference. I have noticed nothing adverse brake-wise.

Maybe a DC tech that understands ABS, etc. might have an opinion to offer, but it think it's just a CYA measure on the tire vendor's part.

With the Superchips tuner I can program the correct tire height into the PCM. So, there shouldn't be any problem, if there were really something to be concerned about.

What's your left foot doing?

It's a disclaimer strictly for lawsuit avoidance.
