yea my tail gate light doesnt seem to work. i checked the fuses and everything is fine. any other suggestions.... all my other lights work fine.

Could be bad wiring, socket or switch. I don't have a wiring diagram for an 87, but here is a link to a diagram for the lights on an 89 (probably not a lot of difference):

You are welcome. The first link is good (at least it just worked for me). You have to scroll down and use the button marked "free" and it takes you to the download page, but it's the same info as on the Autozone site.
