Message: I have been told that if you store your truck/car for a long time you should fill your trans ALL the way up with fluid so the metal parts above the normal level wont rust and to drain your oil and fill your block with disel fuel to do the same thing and keep the rings from rusting to the cylinder walls ...... you just have to remember to remove the plugs and blow out the cylinders when you take it our of storage ....

Message: Dryer sheets will keep the critters out without the mothball smell - make sure to put some by the air box and vents under the hood.
I'd just use an engine fogger (spray can of oil) sprayed into the intake while running until it stalls like you do to store a boat engine. Maybe the diesels better, not sure; but I store my boat almost 9 months and that's worked fine. A lot less hassle.
You could also remove the battery and store it somewhere else if no elctric there - battery tender still a good idea.
Lead, follow, or get out of the way

Message: I once saw a Road Grader, on a ship that had gone through cold waters; the entire side of the engine popped off. Ice. No anti-freeze.
Go to Steve Roark's site. He has the fogger spray Kowalski spoke of. Also, Steve can recommend the way to handle the lubrication while parked. Ask him about the Gasoline stabilizer and if it'll last that long.
You will want to follow proper re-start procedures too.

Message: Thanks to everybody for the info.
Shatto, do you have the link for his site. Also, what are the proper restart procedures?

Message: Go down thirteen spots to: "FREE, Buy Amsoil at Wholesale prices."
Steve will be happy to fill you in.
I think I remember an article at Amsoil on storage, etc. Ask Steve.
PS; if you ever plan having the oil changed again, on any vehicle, you might think about Steves offer.
