Subject: Front calibers sticking IP: Logged
Message: I have a '00 Dakota 4x4 and I replaced the front rotors and pads about 5 months ago. Now that it's summer, if I'm doing a lot of stop and go driving in town, the front pads start to stick a little. The more I go, the worse they get. But it only seems to happen when the temp outside gets above 75, otherwise they are fine. I'm pulling the front tires off today to check it out, anything I should be looking for? Thanks.

Message: Air in system.
New brake systems don't bleed like the ancient ones. Be sure it's done right.

Message: Remove excess rust, and using a lithium base grease(NOT petroleum based), and slightly dab some on the slide pin. Other than that, I would suspect water or some other contamination of the brake fluid. It will change the boiling point of the brake fluid, and cause front brake sticking and seizing.
If it doesn't fit, force it. If it breaks...well...it needed to be replaced anyway.

Message: The calipers on my 01 started sticking really bad after replacing pads. I ended up having to buy rebuilt calipers and haven't had a problem since.

Message: My left front has the same problem sometimes, and exactly as Greg described. Mine are all origional brakes. I asked a mechanic and he says it is a common problem with chrystler brake lines. He thinks the pressure builds up in the lines but it flows back much slower for some reason.
