Subject: Changing Clutch IP: Logged
Message: My 99 3.9 manual tranny with 100,000 miles is due for a new clutch. Just curious do shops usually change the tranny fluid at the same time or should I specificlly request this?
Thanks for the help

Message: Changing/not changing the tranny fluid is not part of a clutch job. The tranny is sealed: front back and top. Unless they spill some when removing it there is no need to address the fluid. If you want it done ask them to do it in addition to the clutch replacement.

Message: It depends on the shop, you do need to ask. I had my clutch replaced a few months ago and I said to the guy running the shop for what he was charging me to change the clutch he could throw in a oil change for the transmission at no cost and he did.
