Message: ok i drove a 2003 dodge 1500 hemi 4door and i was playing around in it and it felt pretty strong till about 80 and then it slowed down quite a bit it seemed like my dak would destroy it from like a roll at 80 but maybe there is something wrong with it because i thought the hemi rams were all hyped up to be so da** fast and this one didnt really impress me anyone else think this?

Message: WEll I test drove one and it didn't feel as strong as I thought it would at lower RPMS. This is becuase the tourqe peak is so high. I did however, test drive a Ford-150 that felf much stronger with you start off from a stop..
I would recomend that Chrysler ditch the 345 and go with a larger 6.1(368)with MDS.

Message: Many of us with 4.7 Dak would be happy to run a heavier full size (especially 4 door) hemi any day. Not that much more torque, and the extra horsepower is negated by the heavier weight and increased sail area...

Message: look at the aero dynamics of the ram, thats why they would be slow from an 80mph roll compared to a dakota. i have heard the trans robs alot of power from the hemi too. and the dodge ram is the heaviest full size truck.
i have rode in a few hemi rams and they ran strong but were not super impressive, easly would put the fords claimed 300hp 5.4 down though.

Message: Weird. At the track and when I had stock gears, mostly stock everything, I beat the Hemi's out of the hole, THEN they beat me on the top end. By 4/10's at that. 2WD QC Ram to my 4WD QC Dak.
Now I don't think a stock Hemi QC could get me in the 1/4, and especially not from the get go.
I think the torque management and drive by wire may kill it some.
Mine always seemed to have a good snap from take off.

Message: Is there some way to turn off the torque management and drive by wire? I want to install a HEMI but after hereing how everyone is disappionted I think I might go for a supercharger instead.

Message: the drive by wire is what kills the take off, from what i have heard. i think with a superchips you can take off the torqe managment. didnt that work on yours GraphiteDak, with the superchips?

Message: Brandon, you said "install a Hemi". I don't think the crate Hemi's come with drive-by-wire.
