Subject: Brake Questions IP: Logged
Message: Hi,
I have a slightly warped right front rotor on my '02 Club Cab Dakota (3.9l 5 spd).
If I replace one rotor, do I need to replace both? Pads, too?
I didn't see how the calipers come off. Anyone give me a quick how to?

Use lots of the brake lube. Should re-goop every 40,000 miles or so.
Replace anything to do with suspension in pairs.
Have the brand new rotors turned by a shop. The factory does a crummy job. You might look into upgrading rotors and pads.
Before doing the above, take the rotors, held on the hub by 2 throw-away screws, I believe, to the shop and see if they can be turned. That'll save a buck.
Secret; you can replace pads without turning rotors each time. If it stopped properly before, it will again.
Report back; we all learn that way.

learn together, is buy someone doing a bad brake job and running
your ass over.
