Quick question.. Is a Thermostat one of those things that is better to get from a dealer rather than an aftermarket part? Didn't know if it was one of those "gray areas" like aftermarket PCV valves are with the Daks.

I have a 00 Dakota 4.7V8 with a Jet thermostat 180 degrees,no problem since 00.

Well, if you have a 4.7L engine, the only place to get an exact replacement is the dealer.
Normally, though, you should be able to get a replacement thermostat from any good auto parts house like NAPA, Autozone, Schucks/Kragen/Checker, etc.

I bought a thermostat from Canadian tire, thinking it would work fine, but it didn't let the motor warm up. I returned it and bought one from Dodge and it worked well. I could think of the idea of that it was just a faulty one, but the same thing happened to my brother.
That's just my experience

I noticed no difference.
I tried a 160, and a 180. I've got the 180 still in it now.

Some people claim to have had trouble with off brands. Chrysler has been using Robertshaw as OEM; and in the past used Stant. Both are good.

thats funny, some one said A GOOD PARTS STORE LIKE AUTO ZONE, OR CHECKER! those stores are nothing but a joke. all they sell is stuff for little rice burners and neon lights.
went into an auto zone and asked for gasket material, no one in there knew what i was talking about! they just sat there looking at me like i didnt know what i was talking about!
