Ho folks, I have a good hard cover (lid) on my 97 Dakota (GEM GT Classic) am am happy with it. I am thinking about putting a cheaper vinyly lift up ype cover on my 01 Dakota. I don't need the security of the steel cover, just want to keep things out of sight.

My question(s):

Are any of the lift up vinyl ones any good>

What can I expect to spend?

Do they hold up over time?

I'm thinking about one like the Extand Full Tilt cover.

I have the LUND Elite vinyl cover. It is velcro down the sides and roles up nice. Since it is velcro you can stretch it to fit tight. I have had mine for several months and love it. $240 at Summit.

I recently installed a Berlin tilt cover on my 98 short box. Really nice. The thing I like about it is you can still roll it back like a non-tilting cover for hauling large items. The cost was $214 with free shipping. I received the tonneau in three days. Purchased it on the enternet from carmicdirect.com Give them I try, they also carry other brands.

I think the CheckMate cover is around $150 and I have heard that it is an awsome cover.

My son has a Checkmate tilting cover on his truck (cost $229 after shipping). They are flush and look nice, however because they are flush they do not shed water or snow at all. You also have to drill holes for mounting, and to use the bed for larger items the whole thing needs to be removed. Between the Berlin on my truck and the Checkmate on my son's I like the Berlin. It all depends on the look you want.
