Subject: Jumping the ABS Sensor IP: Logged
Message: Ok, I smashed my ABS sensor when I was putting the bed back on last night after fixing a broken fuel line.
Long story short, I broke the connector that plugs into the sensor, I don't have ABS anymore anyway, I want to know if I can just jump the wires, or what I can do to stop it from looking for the sensor so the ABS and Brake lights don't come on. The ABS relay and fuse are already gone, and the light still comes on.
Thanks!

Message: did you break the ABS sensor or the speed sensor. This is very important because in another post I am asking if anyone knows where the ABS sensor is. I do know that the speed sensor will cause the ABS and brake lights to light up. My truck went in last week for that exact reason. The speed sensor failed, which is connected to the ABS somehow, which caused these lights to come on. My speedometer didn't work under 35mph.
Anyways, are you sure it was the ABS sensor?

Message: It is the sensor mounted directly on top of the rear differential.

Message: uh, that would be the ABS sensor on the top of the pumpkin. The VSS is on the rear driver side of the tranny.

Message: I know it is the ABS sensor, I just want to know if I can jump the wires on the connector and I'll be safe in turning off the light, or if I can use a resistor or something.

Message: Nope, can't really jump it out - the PCM will throw a code when it sees that the truck is moving via the VSS, but the ABS sensor in the rear isn't showing a pulse.
On the other hand, is there anything stopping you from getting a PCM from a junked Dakota with same motor/year/etc BUT without ABS???

Message: I could, but if I do that, I'll just cut a connector off of one with abs and wire it to mine, I was just hoping to avoid spending much more time or money on it. but it looks like I will have to go get a connector from the junk yard.
Thanks!
