Subject: Pinging noise IP: Logged
Message: Recently when I was accellerating I heard a loud pinging/rattling noise (almose like doing 20 mph in 5th gear, or how a diesel sounds). Any idea's where I should start? My catalytic conv. rattles alot lately and that's almost the same sound I heard but louder.
Any advice much appreciated.

Message: If you cat is rattling (as in it is bad) it could be causing your O2 sensor(s) to read wrong and, in turn, screw up your fuel/air mixture which, I believe, will cause pinging. Is your truck throwing up any codes?
