Message: I have heard that the ball joint issue depends upon which plant the Durangos were assembled at, and that not all have the ball joint problem. In a way that doesn't make sense unless there were different suppliers for the joints. My 2001 durnago I bought used with 92,000 miles, and there is no problem with any of the symptoms of ball foint failre that I have read. If it has already had the joints replaced, would Chrysler have a record of it? I put my VIN in and it showed no recalls on it. Any ideas?

Message: you can check the ball joints and see if there is a zerk fitting on the top of the ball joint.
if there aren't any zerk fittings to add gease than they're the stock ball joints.

Message: Yes, but we know that when they are replaced under warranty that the Dodge Boys put in the same useless ball joints so that finding no zerts is not necessarily an indication of replacement

Message: They should have the data on your vehicle in their computer data base. I had two Dakota's changed on the recall and your right, same ball joints, no zerks. Whoever, they told me once its a recall issue, the joints are covered for the life of the trucks. Sooooo, if they ever fail, its back to the dealer!!

Message: The original ball joints were riveted into the upper control arm. The replacemnt ball joints are bolted in.
