Subject: Clicking/Popping/Grinding noise IP: Logged
Message: I've just had my transmission rebuilt in my 97 dakota (3.9, 5spd manual, 2wd) and was hoping a nasty noise would disappear (along with my bad synchros--the main reason for the rebuild.
Basically, what happens is when I coast to a stop from highway speeds (in neutral) and then proceed to take off into a turn I get a nasty clicking/popping/grinding noise that sound for about 3 seconds. It fades without me doing anything, and sounds like its under me or behind me, but I'm not real sure. Any ideas what this is from?
