Ok I have a 99 club cab 2 whell drive with a 3.9 and manual tranny. The last few days when I push in the clutch I can feel a slight grinding in the pedale. This is my first vehicle with a manual tranny, so I don't know what it feals like when it is time for a new clutch. It has 95,000 miles on it. But I don't know if it is the original clutch or not, because when I bought it it already had 80,00 on it. I have heard that clutches can last a lot longer than that, but I have no idea if the previous owner beat on it or not. This is also the vehicle that I learned to drive stick on, so that probablly didn't help it any. Thanks for any input.

Sounds like you might have a broken spring or finger in the clutch. Does it shift easy, or kind of hard.

If it doesn't fit, force it. If it breaks....well, it needed to be replaced anyway!!

Sounds like a throw out bearing, especially, if it soes not slip under a load.

It still shifts easy. No slipping at all. Will holding off on getting this looked at harm any thing else? Or should I have it checked out right away? I don't really have the money to have this done at a garage. Or the space and equipment to do it my self.
Thanks for the advice
Kevin

i don't want to scare you but, i'd try and get it taken care of as soon as you can. i've seen noisy throw out bearings go a long time and some die a sudden death. it depends how much you're using that clutch. stop & go driving is hell on the throw out bearing.

if money is a problem and the clutch doesn't slip you could go with just changing the bearing. it wouldn't be the first time someone has changed just the bearing.

Throw out bearing is shot. You'll need to change it real soon. The job requires pulling he trany. What ever you do,at 95,000 be sure you also install a new cluch and pressure plate. It's the logical thing to do with your milage and will save you the labor cost of removing the trany again .DO NOT USE REBUILT cluch parts. I had a shop for over 40 years and there very unreliable. When cluches start slipping people will try in desperation to get the car/truck moving and in turn they over heat both the cluch and pressure plate causing the metals to lose temper and or crystalize. Always use new cluch parts.

So many problems .... So little time
