Message: Ok I have a 99 club cab 2 whell drive with a 3.9 and manual tranny. The last few days when I push in the clutch I can feel a slight grinding in the pedale. This is my first vehicle with a manual tranny, so I don't know what it feals like when it is time for a new clutch. It has 95,000 miles on it. But I don't know if it is the original clutch or not, because when I bought it it already had 80,00 on it. I have heard that clutches can last a lot longer than that, but I have no idea if the previous owner beat on it or not. This is also the vehicle that I learned to drive stick on, so that probablly didn't help it any. Thanks for any input.

Message: Grinding when you press the clutch pedal in is not the 'clutch' , but the [ throwout bearing ].
However to replace it means similarly removing the tranny from the engine , so you might as well replace the clutch at the same time..

Message: You might want to check with Dodge about recalls, etc.
Noisy throw-out bearings are why they tell you not to ride the clutch. If it is quiet when you're driving, ignore it. It'll probibly outlive you.

Message: huh? The last time I ignored a clutch problem(77 F-150 Custom), it left me stranded......
If it doesn't fit, force it. If it breaks...well...it needed to be replaced anyway.
