Subject: CPS mod comments IP: Logged
Message: I did the CPS mod on my 94 V6.
I had the sensor with the bushings in the plastic bracket.
I bought a new sensor, so no problem.
The plastic bracket is much thicker than the metal one,
so the existing bolts won't fit without shims. I screwed on a nut
and added one washer.
My bolts were allen heads, not hex. Which was not a problem
after I bought an allen socket set. In fact, it was probably
easier than having hex bolts.
I had to swing the trans fill tube out of the way.
I checked the timing before, both while running and just cranking,
and got 6.
After the mod I freaked 'cause I couldn't see the timing mark.
Then I realized it was up underneath. So it looked like it was
at 12. (the scale only goes to 6)
Larry said stock should be 10, and after should add 2-3.
So why did mine add 6 degrees?
Anyone else experience that?
BTW, the truck runs great.
