Subject: AC problem? IP: Logged
Message: My AC doesn't seem to get too cold. I have a 98 Dak. What system does it have in it? Am I going to have a problem having someone charge the system? Any idea what I should expect to pay for that? Thanks.

Message: All since 1994 are R134a refrigerant. May be low. Have someone qualified check the pressures. Pro shops charge about $60 labor plus R134a and parts.
If you really know what you are doing and have the gauges and talent, it's $7 a can.

Message: could also be the clutch or compressor. Mine went out at 25,000 miles. Same symptoms - wasn't getting cold. You should be able to hear it cycle on with defroster or AC on. I had that happen on my Durango too - it wasn't getting cold until I noticed the temp control was halfway between cold and hot - DUH!!
