Subject: Rear damper question IP: Logged
Message: I'm looking into buying a 2002 4x4 club cab that has a home made rear bumper. Just inside where the factory rear bumper was is a piece that is about 2" in diam and about 16" long which is rubber mounted into frame members, center of the truck. It would be visually hidden by the factory bumper and the 16" diminsion runs across the truck between 2 frame members. It is hitting and rattling on the home spun bumper the guy made and I would like to just tack weld it to keep it from rattling but don't want to cause any harm. The local Dodge parts guy calls it a "damper" (which makes sense due to the rubber mounts), but how much effect can such a small part have? Any suggestions?
