Message: You should have only 1 belt..unless you have an older premag engine. It's the serpentine belt. Front of the engine, wraps around every pulley/pump. The squealing is caused by a worn or improperly tensionedbelt rubbing over a pulley. Check your belt tensioner. Left front(passenger side) side of the engine by the coil. there is a mark on the tensioner assembly that shows when your belt is worn out, and the tensioner can't "tension" the belt any more.
If it doesn't fit, you're using the wrong hammer!

Message: I had a car one time, wasn't on a dakota, but I had my water pump pulley freeze up one time and caused the belt to squeek. It wasn't freezing up from temperatures, but just not turning. I guess if everything else is working fine on your truck, it might not be this case, but you might want to get all the pulleys checked.

Message: Well, I have a 2001 Dak quad 4x4. I went off-roading with it in some deep Clayish Mud. and it made my wheels SCREAM like nothing you have ever heard. You cant get the mud out unles you take the tires and calipers off to clean it by hand and a pressure washer.! If you went mudding i would check that ASAP.!

Message: The tensioner wears out at the pivot, throwing the pully out of alignment. This caused my squeek. The cheap-o Korean bearings have a tendency to dry-up, which caused noise upon starting for me.
Trucky,
Do not use "Belt Dressing" on a serpantine belt, unless you want it to squeek.
