Subject: Caliper piston problem IP: Logged
Message: Was wondering if anyone can help me. Not a problem with my Dakota, but with my Ford Taurus. I just replaced the back rotor and now I am trying to get the new pads in place, but the caliper piston is being a real bitch. I can't seem to re-seat it. What are my options here, or does someone have any idea how I can get this piston pushed back. C-clamp is not working.
Any help would be appreciated.

Message: I had a gm product that required you to screw the piston back in on the rear calipers with a tool you can get at just about any local part store.

Message: Have you tried opening the bleeder valve while you do this? Requires a total brake bleed, but, it works.
If it doesn't fit, you're using the wrong hammer!

Message: A special caliper piston tool was needed. Once I bought that, things went a little more smoothly :-)
Thanks for the replies.
