Subject: Steering pump or strut?
IP: Logged

Message:
Howdy people...
The power steering on my '01 V8 Dakota just started to go out at idle only - but when I rev it up a little the power returns. It's like it doesn't circulate good now at idle. My question is I don't know if it's in the pump or could it also be in the steering strut-which may not be responding either, til the RPM's go up past idle. The lines off the pump also feed and circulate thru the strut.
This just started yesterday.
Hope all of you are doin' good, I haven't posted on here in a long while.
Thanks, and taker easy...

Have you done anything different, like change fluid, loosen belts, etc? Does the pump leak? I had that happen a couple of times on my old truck (77 F150 Custom) and it was air in the system the first time and an internal seal went out the second time and when I replaced the thing, the last time was a loose belt...but I could HEAR that:).

If it doesn't fit, you're using the wrong hammer!
