I did. Gas prices. My 01 4.7, manual QC dak, gets great mpg. But I still slowed down a little on the highway, and I'm a little easier around town too. Saves a little.

I don't get on it quite as much either, but when I do, it sure is gratifying.

Actually, I haven't been driving my QC that much for the past four months. I've been ridesharing with my wife and kids quite a lot, and driving my 32mpg Jetta when it's compatible with the temperature.

I just got my oil changed on the 17th. The prior change was 11/29/2005; 3200 miles in almost five months - wow!!! I was putting 2000 miles/month on it up until about a year ago.

That's how I have been cutting back on gas consumption. But the funny thing is we carpool in my wife's Durango, which gets the worst mpg out of everything I own...

What's your left foot doing?

I've only put on less than 2k miles since last July. I drive it every day though, but anywhere I go isn't that far away. All suburb driving, no hwy.

I've slowed it down for about a year now. Now, I've noticed some others are too. I use to be the only one who wouldn't nail it from a stop light, now it;s not uncommon to have a truck next to me putt up to speed instead of hitting speed as fast as possible. (people drive fast in Florida). For a truck, my 2000 4.7 auto gets good mileage, as long as I don't dog it.

I also drive my wife's Protege, 5 spd manual.

But she does so much running around our two little boys, that I started driving the Dak again.

daddio, what year/motor/tranny/rear is your QC.

Last tank I got about 18+ combined in my 4.7, manual, now with 3.92's QC, heavy a$$ truck.

I too was driving my '04 CC 4X4 4.7L Dakota back and forth to work everyday (62 miles round trip) However, in January my Mom gave me her '99 Mercury Sable with 42k miles on it. I now drive the Sable to work.

I averaged 17 mpg in the Dakota, but the Sable is averaging 26 mpg. I figured the car is paying for its maintenance and insurance just by the gas savings alone.

I have had my truck for almost 3 years and I just like to have fun in it. I cant stand driving slow. As I figure it, over the last 3 years my driving habits have cost me $623. Thats like $208 a year. Would I do it again? HELL YES!! Im not slowing down if gas goes to $4.00

Driving fast (14 mpg)
20,000 miles / 14mpg = 1,429 gals
1,429 gals x $2.5 per gal = $3572

Driving with the seat as close to the windshield as possible. (17 mpg)
20,000 miles / 17mpg = 1,176
1,176 gals x $2.5 per gal = $2940

Fast $3572
Grandma $2940
extra cost $ 632

Daddio, understood, I have kids too. That's why it says "mixing" it up :-)

I'll ride to work, then go pick the kids up, one at a time. But there are other times when we all have to get to the same place at the same time, and then it's time to "cage it".

I'll actually see my Dak milage go down because of this, as I'll just be driving it mostly around town (when I need to seat more then 2). But, I'll only be filling it up half as much.

I haven't slowed down at all. After suffering over 200,000 miles with a couple 4 banger compact pick ups in the name of economy, I'll be damned if I'm going to let the price of gas keep me from enjoying the v8 !

Lead, follow, or get out of the way

slow down? Yes. And driven less. I drive 46 miles each day to/from work. My wife drives 22 miles each day to/from work.

I've been driving our grand am and she's been driving the truck more. The Grand Am is 4 cylinder that gets ~30 mpg while the dakota get ~16 mpg.
