Subject: Brakes and Proportioning Valve
IP: Logged

Message:
Whenever I come to a stop, or a rolling stop, I get this grinding sound from the back and it shakes when I turn. I have also figured that the proportioning valve for the brakes is also giving me a problem, as the back do little braking. It is possible that the brake proportioning valve is somehow keeping the brakes on after i have released the petal, and the sound is the pads on the brake drums?
Thanks alot

Have you inspected the rear brakes ? It's much more likely that the rear brakes are grinding and not working well because they are completelyv worn out. There could also be other reasons the rear is not braking well, such as the pads not being adjusted tight enough, if you have rear drums; as most Daks have. This would all have to be ruled out before jumping to the conclusion that your proportioning valve is bad.
