I have an early '87 Dakota LE 2wd. I have started replacing the headlight switch every year and a half.
Anyone have the same problem?
Anyone have a good wiring diagram of the headlight circuit for this year?

Thanks

Rusty

Baring having a short. 2 thoughts. check your headlights to see if they are after market 100/85's or something close. They draw to much currant for a lot of aplications. If this isn't it then You can buy relays. cut your headlight wires about 8 or 10 inches from the bulb being sure you have determined which are high and low beam. Run the headlight side of the cut to L on relay and new heaver wire B to battery. The wire coming from the switch goes to the S on relaw. Now all your switch is doing headlight wise is turning on the relay. Almost nothing. Should solve your problem. Maybe if you looked into tsb's or recalls on it you may find there was a recall on your light switch. That or short, or oversized bulbs, you do have a problem'. inadiquit light switches has happened of dirfferant cars over the years . Just be sure there are no shorts,

So many problems .... So little time
