Subject: Anyone who has replaced lock actuators.. IP: Logged
Message: How do you replace the lock so that the key matches the rest of the vehicle locks/ignition? I was going to buy the lock assembly at rockauto.com instead of buying the whole latch at the dealer and it just dawned on me that I would then have to have a separate key for just that lock. What are the remedies here?

Message: By Us(Europe)there are basically two ways:
-the keys have specific number on separate piece of metal, what is sufficient for Your dealer while ordering new lock.(older)
-Your car is equipped with magnetic card (like credit card)Specific key code is there what is sufficient for the shop while ordering new lock barrel.
In both cases no separate key is needed.Only one disadvantage: must go to the dealer what is not cheap anymore.
