Message: Hmmm, this thread has caught my attention... Is it reasonable to put the 48RE in a 92 (ext. cab) or would there have to be some major choppin and welding? And I myself am working on a 408 project (just found a block after nearly 2 months of searching)... My build may never need to handle LOTS AND LOTS of tourque but I like having peace of mind lol!
Thanks,
-Jason

Amusing, because this is the first time I've written in this thread.
Did these fools do this to this site before shatto?

Message: Anything "RE" requires the OBDII computer, which arrived in 1996. So, stick with the RH before that. The A518 is not simply the 727 with an overdrive. Most of the internal parts will swap, but there were changes. You cannot simply bolt an OD from the 518 onto a 727, or the 727 tailshaft onto the 518.
To get an idea of what's available, check this page out.
