Subject: Air Condition/vent problem

Hello-
I havent been on here in nearly 4 years! Crazy... Found an old post from when I was 16 and am now turning 20.

My problem is that my vents/airconditioning stopped working for the first 3 power levels. It doesn't matter if its set on aircondition or just opened vents, the first 3 low settings do not push out any air. Only the highest setting will put out air at the highest level. Its a 2001 v6 ext cab dak. Anyone know if this is something I could fix? Anyone ever heard of it or know what it is?
Really hope I could avoid taking it in to fix it .
Thanks, ~Krezer

I've heard of that happening. I think it is the Rheostat that went out. Hopefully someone else will chime in with more info.

If I remember right; it is under the dash on the passenger side connected to the blower fan. It's probably just a fifteen dollar part at the most.

Hey thanks.
I googled rheostat and dodge dakota, might have an answer: http://www.faqs.org/qa/qa-18864.html
I will probably try this. Anyone else have this problem? Anyone try and fix it?
Thanks, Scott

It is the resistor block. $20 to $50, depending on vehicle.
