Message: That's one reason I just replaced the whole unit.
For the price of the parts I needed, and my time, I decided it was better to install a rebuilt unit.
I had your same question, and never did find the answer. Sorry.

Message: About 145,000 miles.
Don't remember the price, but you can find it
at partsamerica.com which is Advance Auto.
It was a rebuilt unit, but it looked good and I had no problems with the installation or the operation.
You should also clean and flush the power steering fluid at the same time. I used Seafoam to clean it, and filled it with Amsoil Universal Trans. Fluid.
