Message: Well I just pushed the ol Dak to the limit. Went to Home Depot and started loading Pavestone retaining wall blocks. Stopped at 75, roughly 1875 pounds - almost to the bump stops. Hauls just as much as my old half ton Chevy. Can't beat it.

Message: to a previous post talking about gears an so on and what you hauled for payload and what i towed as for trailers and boats and cars with my 3.9.... i think they under-rated the trucks for what they can do... the dakotas wether a v6 or v8 are rated as half ton truck they work good as hell just as a full size....

Message: You can do that and I've done that in the past on a Ford - put 3/4 ton springs in the rear in place of the 1/2 ton, but remember the axles, housing, etc. are still only half ton equipment.

Message: shocks have nothing to do with ride heighth or payload capacity, they simply absorb bumps in the road to make the ride smoother.
