Subject: Complaints against the AMSOIL guy IP: Logged
Message: Steve Roark, the AMSOIL dealer you've seen around this site has had complaints about 'pushing his business' and trying to 'ram it down our throat' among other negative comments.
Please, think about this;
When you go into your favorite parts palace to buy thinge for your beloved Dodge, you have dealt with the retailer.
The retailer is THE MIDDLEMAN between you, the consumer, and the manufacturer. You cannot buy from the manufacturer, you can't buy enough.
The business sequence is this;
Manufacturer
Jobber
Wholesaler
Retailer
Customer
Steves business puts him in the position of;
Jobber
Wholesaler
Retailer
Secret....
Steve will gladly let you buy Amsoil products at his price!
Why not ask him how?

Message: I got nothing aginst Steve. Everybody far as I know including me bashese something automotive. Steve has got to be the only guy I know that tells it like it is and gets it right. The one thing he would normaly be bashing (other brands of oil) , he doesn't. Infact many times I seem him giving good words about mobil 1 . He does not tell anyone to change. It's up to us totally to change. Steve does a great job putting out the information we need to make reasonable decissions on our own. I don't read everything he writes as I have read it before. I have no problem with this occationl skip reading. I skip things at times others write also for verious reasons. If we didn't have Steve we would be running more blind then we already are. Same differance with the guys in here that have real Dakota knowledge. We need the whole book to make it all work proper. Just My opinion.
So many problems .... So little time

Thanks you Shatto and OBIO3,
YES, ... ALL I ask is that people consider AMSOIL.
I understand why people are sceptical.
I have to admit, I was a sceptic in the beginning as well. My brother has been an Amsoil Dealer for over 15 years. He tried to switch me to Amsoil for over a decade. I never listened to him for the same reasons many don't listen to me.
However, I switched all my fluids to AMSOIL in 2001 and now I am an AMSOIL believer, ... because I can see and feel the difference myself (lower operating temps, better mpg, quieter operation, better shifting, extended drains which saves oil, etc., etc., etc.). In 2002 I became an AMSOIL dealer myself so that I could share the information with others.
That being said, if anyone is interested in finding out more about AMSOIL Synthetic Motor Oils, Lubricants and Filters please click the following link and Request a FREE AMSOIL CATALOG.
That's all I ask ... Please consider Amsoil.

Message: I'v been reading this board for a few years now. I'v seen the Amsoil ads/posts. I also undertand how advertising and sponserhips work. I don't know Steve or Shatto personally.
I have never once thought it was being forced on me, or rammed down my throat. It's not possible. If I don't want to read it, I simply pass over it. Same way I do on radio, TV, newspaper, printed media, billboards, etc. I choose to ignore it. Public media exists to advertise. Do you think the internet is any differant?
Whether you want to admit it or not, our economy thrives on advertising. That's how we all make a living. Do you complain because of the banner ads at all the other web sites you visit? Especially those really irritating floating ads that won't go away? I don't, I just avoid those sites.
If you don't like it, seperate yourself from all forms of public media.

Mr. "Eye_Trip", ( a former site member - now a non-member )
In the "for whatever it's worth" category ... I, the www.DodgeDakotas.com AmsoilSponsor (my member name), became a member / sponsor / advertiser of this website 8/29/2002.
At the time I was leasing a 1999 Lexus RX, which I traded for a 2002 Lexus RX lease, which is up in September of this year.
Since you have a running file on what I own and drive ... here are my thoughts for when this lease is up this September, 2006.
Hmmmm ... let me think.
Currently, I pay $400 month (in Manhattan - NYC, -- not Kansas) to park my RX in the garage, a large SUV is $500+ and an "exotic" is $600+ so I must think of that when I consider an automobile.
My payments, parking and insurance are currently $1,200 month and I'd hate to put myself in a position where I would have to pay more. Thank goodness I have my Amsoil Commission Check to help offset my expenses (ha ha).
Oh yes, back to talking about my next vehicle ...
I'm leaning towards the newly redesigned 2007 Jeep Wrangler - Black on Black, Fully Loaded - just for kicks (I owned one from 1991 - 1994). If I had two vehicles one would be the 2007 Jeep Wrangler and the other the Maserati Convertible (my bro-in-law owns a Chrysler / Jeep Dealership and a Maserati / Ferrari Dealership) - but with just one vehicle I have to make the practical choice.
Or, maybe I'll just lease another Lexus RX. They guys at Lexus really love me since I've been a regular ever since I traded in my BMW Convertible for my first Lexus. I figured, if I am only going to have one car, it might as well be able to haul things, and be a luxury vehicle as well ... so maybe I'll stick with Lexus.
I would like the bigger Lexus SUV, but tight Manhattan streets and parking - you know ... not very practical, and I'm really a practical kinda guy.

Message: Steve,
FYI;
I was stopped behind a Honda Pilot when a Jeep pulled next to the Pilot. I was completely supprised how much larger the Pilot was.
The point is, we buy wagons for room. I would love to get off road and see what each could do.
When I was in the Army I got a chance to see the advantages if independant suspension by driving a Jeep and M-151 (the Viet-Nam period 'jeep' made by Ford) up the same rutted hill. The M-151 had not the slightest problem, the Jeep spun wheels, bounced, slid around seeking traction. In otherwords, I had fun!

Message: Abraham Lincoln didn't say that. That quote is from Shakespere.
Lincoln said "Four score and seven years, our American brethern started buying Jap cars and now they complain because the jobs they have suck."
