 Subject: Front suspension squeaks

My 2001 Durango squeks like crazy in the front going over bumps or parking lot speed bumps. Not the back, just the front. Can it be bushings or the dreaded ball joints? Don't hear thumping or anything or have problems when turning. Sounds like squeaky springs. But if this was the case, why not the back springs too?

Guaranteed its your sway bar bushings. I have an 02 Dakota Quad cab 4x4, and its doing the same thing. temporary fix it with a spray lubricant like WD-40 ..it will only last a few days but at least you will know what the problem is.. there is four of then 2 are on the front cross member and the other 2 are on the control arms.

Worth a shot. If it is still there it's probably a good indication that it may be the ball joints.

My '02 Dakota QC 4x4 has the squeak in the front and a little in the rear. I had my truck checked out at the dealer last week. They said control arm bushings on the front and sway arm bushing on the rear.
Dealer said that the front control arms had to be replaced - bushings were not serviceable - 827.14 installed! Rear was 185.14.
Are there aftermarket bushings that can be installed?
Asked specifically about the ball joints - dealer said that there was no problem there. I didn't think there was since I hadn't had any "clunks" or "pops" in the front end, only the loud squeaking.

The front sway bar bushings can sound horrible. When mine act up(03 qc) you`d think the front end was about to fall off,grease em and no more noise. I wonder how many people have been ripped off by dealers saying it was something more expensive.

pull the front sway bar and using automatic transmission assembly lube coat all areas where the rubber bushings touch- that stuff won't hurt rubber unlike any grease will
