The tow package consists of an auto trans cooler, class 3 hitch and wiring for the trailer. Sometimes you'll get a more powerful alternator, but that isn't a biggie.
Go buy your class 3 hitch at Kmart for $110, get the trailer ball and tongue $35 and buy the Reese wiring harness for the trailer $28, skip the auto trans cooler (jet skiis are light load, but don't use oberdrive) and then load up and hit the water. In your RT, you won't hardly know your pulling anything.

Ihad the dealer install a tow package as part of my purchase deal. I have towed my jeep with my R/T and had no problems, even going up hills. Used to tow it along when I took my truck in for servicing and had a way home. Of course utility trailers are a snap. Now I am wondering if I could tow my Durango with it. LOL

Your R/T allready should have a trans cooler, it's an R/T.
The only cautions that I have heard are
1) Don't tow with a MP PCM
2) The rear suspention can't take more than
500lbs because it will damage the rear axle
tube if bottomed out hard enough.(I think that
was mainly for the 98 and 99 R/T's) I could be
wrong.
I have not found any limitations towing 1000lbs trailer 600mi over mountains and hard grades to get a 2500lbs car and brought it home.
