Message: DennyJ, I believe that you just have to disconnect the battery for something like 10 minutes, and then reconnect it. That should reset the computer.

Message: Something else that will work..take off the negative post on the battery, turn the key to the "on" position for 15 seconds, reconnect. That will reset the PCM

Message: Hi
Thanks for the responses I wanted to try something tonight to try and get better gas mileage from itI read a earlier post about resetting the computer and driving rather conservtively for 100+ miles to see if my gas mileage would go up. When I bought the truck I got 17 highway for some reason it's dropped to 13 it's only got 9000 miles on it and I'm wondering if there might be something messed up with it. My wife and I went for a 110 mile ride today after I reset the computer to see if there was a change in the mileage I haven't topped off the tank yet but it doesn't look good about 3/8th of a tank and 110miles i'll top it or burn this tank up to get a more accurate reading.
again thanks

(1) Disconnect the NEG terminal from the Battery
(2) Turn (and hold) the Key in the START position for 15-20 seconds
(3) Release the key and reconnect the battery.
