Subject: Good deal for a 98 R/T? IP: Logged
Message: I found a 98 R/T single cab with 120,000 miles for $5000. Is this a good deal? Is this a lot of miles for this kind of truck?

Message: I don't have an r/t but looking at age+miles I would vote (NO!). I may be wrong? I would think you could get a much newer truck for the same money.

Message: Well I saw the truck and it looks like it was used as a work truck. It had 137,000 miles afterall, it had scratches all over, the side view mirror was held on by tape, there was a big dent in the front fender and the tires were going to need replacement. He said he'd take 4500 but I'm definately going to wait for another deal to come up.

Message: I have a 2001 4.7L Club Cab for sale. Excellent condition with 93K on it (just about all highway miles). Only things I have had done to it are; O2 sensor, rotors and brakes, ball joints (under warranty), blower motor resistor and both front hub assemblies. The left bearing was going at 90K and I decided to replace both hub assemblies with the GOOD ones from NAPA. Friend manages a NAPA store and I get the good deal.
Selling it for $9200 OBO. I live in Kentucky. Email me if you want pics of it. Don't want to sell it, but oldest kid going to college in the fall gives me no choice. Best damn vehicle I have ever owned.

Message: Man, that's a lot of miles. I bought a 2001 durango recently with 92,000 miles. Looked and drove gret, but 60 miles after leaving the lot the tranny went out. Luckily I got an extened warranty. So I would say be careful of mileage vehicles. An extended warranty is money well spent. Mine cost $1300, but the tranny cost $1950 for a rebuild so I came out money ahead.

Private owners are not as sneaky as dealers; trust me, I have two friends that are dealers.

Message: True. Dealers will tell you the moon is made of cheeze if they can sell you a car. Damn, every time you think you've found an honest dealer, something like this happens to remind you that ther is no such thing. the exception was a salesman who sold me a GMC back in 1984. Told me they used two price books - one for when you ordered a truck and one for a floor model. The ordered truck prices were lower as the dealer didn't have to floor ( finance ) that truck as they did with trucks in the showroon or on the lot. Just remember to take a jar of vaseline with you to the dealership when you go buying. lol

Message: Hey Jerry,
I bought the Dak used from a dealer. It had 32k on the odometer. Of course nowadays, it is required by law that they have to give you the contact information of the previous owner if they have it. They had the name of the guy who traded it in. I met him and saw his other vehicles. I was impressed. I knew the Dak was well taken care of. I have 93k on it and really no problems, just regular maintenance with the normal wear and tear items which were replaced.
