Subject: Intake Manifold Step IP: Logged
Message: Ok, I'm going to takle the intake gasket project this comming weekend. I have been reading up on everything I can find to prepair. I have found one thing that I still have a question on.
How many of you removed the fuel rails by removing the injectors? How about by depressurizing the fuel system and removing the fuel line and leaving teh rails on?
Just wondering which one is easier/less problematic.
Thanks

Message: Well, in all cases, the fewer disconnects you make, the fewer potential leaks you will have.
If you pull the injectors and/or disconnect them from the rail, now you have to closely inspect their o-rings for any damage that may have occurred during removal, and replace any suspect ones.

Message: you can depressurize the fuel system by the shrader valve on the fuel rail. Just use a rag to soak it up so it doesnt spray everywhere.
But why are you pulling the fuel rails off... just get a $4 fuel line removal tool at a parts store and remove the hard fuel line fitting that goes to the left fuel rail. Its only one connection instead of each injector.
