I have a 89 dakota with the 3.9 motor which needs to be replace. I have found a 3.9 magnum motor out of an 93 dakota complete with wire harness and all just wondering if it'll fit and what changes will have to be made?

Need Help
Thank You

My Dakota is a 4x4 convertable with a 3 inch lift. Also the trans has an overdrive. I Paid 280.00 for the 93 dakota motor with 87,000 miles.
Will it be worth it to put that motor in my truck? Or should I look for an 89 motor?

By the way the body is in mint condition with a new Convertable Top! And the trans was installed new back in 1999.

I am curious, have you had a chance to drive it around? Or are you still in the making stage of putting it all together? I have a similar truck - 89,V6,4WD,Automatic. If you got a motor for 280 bucks, you may have just convinced me to look for one too when mine goes out. If it goes out - it has 195K on it. Tranny was rebuilt with 90K+ miles on it.

Well I have been driving my truck for four years then the motor blew. With the 93 motor got it from an older lady who totaled her Dakota in a wreck and sold the motor too me. Got a GREAT deal. They will run between 500-800 dollars for a good motor! Good luck

Hey you may have a hard time getting that engine in there. If i am right the magnum blocks are a couple inchs longer than an 89 block. and different transmission
