Subject: custom steel light guards IP: Logged
Message: this should probably go under custom but doesn't seem to be alot of people reading there.
Anyone made custom tail light guards? Looks like most of the vendor ones available for purchase are 3/8" or so and rounded. Are these hollow? solid?
I'm thinking about making my own fog, tail, turn, etc light guards. i am thinking of using 3/16" solid round steel or perhaps solid square just to be truely custom.
I have 2 issues with vendor light guards - too expensive and too large an area open for damage.
the 2nd issue leads me to another question, whats the law on how much light has to be emitted from a tail, fog, turn, etc light?

Message: if you have a GenIII i would go with the round. IMO, it would go better with the lines of the GenIII.
as far as how much light is legal, that may be a regional(state to state) thing annd you may want to check with your local or state authorities.
but i do like your idea. if you can't find what you want build it.

Message: as far as I know the tails just have to be visible from 500 ft when lit.
