i bought a dakota.. the man said he got at an auction and didnt know anything bout it...he said it was stock..it has a shaker hood going straight into a k@n filter.. i laso noticed it has a jet chip..how can u tell if its stage 1 or 2??? i know nothing bout this kind of stuff..what else do u think the man did 2 the motor??all i know is it runs like a bat out of hell..ive raced a mustang gt and a chevy 350

I don't know nothing about that stuff either. Your truck probably isn't stock if you won those races. Compared to other vehicles, the R/T's motor is a JOKE!! with 250 HP. Some V6's have more power than that. I wouldn't complain if it had power. They should put the HEMI motor in the new Dakotas. I don't like the new Dakotas. I like 2004-1987. I'm pretty sure the R/T's a bad truck. I've got an '02 Dakota SXT with a weak V6 in it. I've always wanted a Dakota with a V8 in it.

while the r/t only has 250 hp it makes up for it with its torque. with 345 pound feet of torque and 3.92 gears they really pull.

My R/T is stock and has plenty of power, more than I can use. I also have the Shaker hood which takes cold air from outside and adds some power. True it only has 250 HP, but it has 345 ft lb of torque to get that HP to the pavement which is not bad. Yeah, they could have done better in the HP department and put bigger and 4 wheel disc brakes on it too. But I bet the vehicles with more HP cost a lot more too.

that is a true 250hp! i have raced two mustangs now one old and one new and i bet if i had a r/t i would have taken them! dont forget that those are always peak numbers so i think that the 250hp stays much longer than say the new mustangs 300hp

thanks 4 the reply guys..yea i love this truck its a 2001 silver with 48668 miles on it.ive only put on round 600 miles on it since ive had it... i drive a 93 geo tracker my mom gave me every 1 calls it the barbie jeep lol
