Message: Hey everybody,
I have a '01, club cab, 4x4, 4.7 with about 99k. Bought the truck last year and I love it. All the power I want, and it runs awesome.
But sometimes it has little issues that piss me off. The latest thing is the blower motor stopped working. Not a good thing during winter in Buffalo, NY. I checked the resistance of the blower motor and seems about right, less than an ohm if i remember right. So I think the problem is somewhere else. Does anyone know where a good starting point would be before I have to give in and take it to a dealer?
Also, the muffler just got a hole in it, so its time to do a partial exhaust replacement. Can anybody recommend a good inexpensise muffler combination that may increase the HP a little?

Message: Did you check the resister to the motor. They go out a lot. But as a rule you lose 1st 3 speeds and high speed still works. Still most likely the problem if no blown fuse.
Never changed a muffler as myself
So many problems .... So little time

Message: I checked the fuse panel next to the drivers door and everything was fine. Is there a fuse panel somewhere else? I'd like to check the motor resistor but havent a clue where it is?

Message: It is under the passenger side, next to the vent. Get into your best contortionist position and look up. You will see a connector with about 6 different colored wires running to it (if my memory serves me correctly). There will be a slide on the connector. Slide it to one side and pull the connector off. There will be two screws/bolt heads holding the resistor in place. I believe it is 8mm in size. It's a bi.tch to get to, but the resistor costs less than 12 bucks from the dealer. If you take it to the dealer to fix, they will rape you on the price for 20 minutes of work. This is a very common problem. I had to do the same thing with my '01 Dak this past summer with about 82K on the odometer. Let me know how it goes.
