Subject: Diffrences between 2.5l and 5.2/5.9l IP: Logged
Message: Just wandering, is there a big diffrence between the frames of a 2.5l and a 5.2/5.9l. I've read of people swapping 5.2l and 2.5l's, 5.2 in and 2.5 out.
I would assume, in order to save, the frames are the same.. just diffrent motor/tranny mounts.
Assuming one were to aquire a 5.9l/tranny/ecu and wiring(all that "stuff"), what all is required in the swap?
I don't really plan to do one soon, but my 2.5l has about 180,000 mi and is probaly gonna die sooner or later, wanna know what options are.
Thanks

Message: Pretty much so; all the daks within a generation are going to be the same frame wise. You'd need different motor/trans mounts of course. And from what I've read, there's probably no difference in the genI and genII frames. It had more to do with the type of engine/trans they used. But I'm not positive on that.

Message: don't forget the suspension if you do the swap. you'll need shocks and springs/coils for a V8.
