Message: I am in the process of installing skid plates in my dakota to be able to do more offroading and fishing in more remote locations. Some of the roads in the forests in N GA and S NC are pretty rugged from my research. Rugged ranging from car has too little ground clearance to navigate the ruts/holes to a 4x4 is highly suggested or required.
I am not sure they make one, but I'm looking for an in-dash GPS for driving that also has a portable unit that I can take with me roaming around streams / forests looking for fish.
Any of you here use a GPS? What make/model do you have? What are the pro's and cons of the one you have?
I'm leaning toward a color one because they are not that much more expensive and besides color is cool.
I'm not intersted in one that requires a laptop to view the maps nor any that require some sort of PDA.

I like the TomTom Go 300.
But now I see that there are NEW models of the TomTom.

Message: Dan,
Friend of mine has the Tom Tom and says for the money, it is a good one. Not sure of the model number though.
