Subject: Dak won't start IP: Logged
Message: My 00 V6 Dakota won't start. There is no spark from the coil. The coil wire ohms out at 10k and I put a new coil in. Can anyone tell me how to check the signal going to the coil or the next step in troubleshooting this problem.
Thanks for any help.

Message: Could be a faulty camshaft position sensor. If you don't have an on/off signal from the Black-Gray(coil driver) wire going into the coil, you won't have spark.
If it ain't broke, fix it til it is.

Message: Backprobed the camshaft position sensor connector. Had +5v input but no voltage fluctuation when cranking the engine. Changed the sensor but still won't start. Any more help on this problem?

Message: sometimes it still can. do the ignition trick where you turn the key to the on position 3 times in 5 sec and on the third time leave it in the on position and watch the odometer for codes.

Message: That code would seem to suggest the speed sensor in the rear end; but I'm not sure that would make the truck not start ?
Lead, follow, or get out of the way

Message: Thanks for everyone's help. Changed the crankshaft pos. sensor and that did it for me. The exposed metal at the end of the sensor was completely covered with rust. It wasn't picking up the flywheel teeth as they went by.
