I posted a similar problem a couple of pages ago, titled "Electrical Nightmare". Check it out and see if it relates to your problem. There were a couple of good suggestions, particularly from Dan M. Let me know.

long trip shut down..... try looking into the auto shut down relay..... over a period of time those relays are known for dropping voltage and makeing it shut down.... also the camshaft sensor could be bad and thats under the dist. cap... anther area could be to check the coil.... its probably breaking down over long trips cause of its windings going bad

I have a 95 dakota with a 3.9 V6 that had a problem with unexpected stalling of the engine. It too would restart the next day or even in a few hours. Turned out to be a short in the wiring harness that crosses the transmission and goes to the speed sensor and possibly the fuel pump. There was a clamp that had rubbed through and touched the wire every so often and killed the engine. No fuse ever blew but it apparently shorted a wire to the computer or from the speed sensor. I spent two afternoons tearing apart the harness until I found it but now it has not stalled for many months.
