Subject: M1 and Towing

Message:
I was wondering if there would be a down side to installing an M1 and doing occasional towing? I'm 99% positive that my intake gasket is shot so I will tearing everything down very soon.

I have hear that you lose a little in the low end with the M1 but gain in the higher RPM's. Right now my 99 5.2 is completly stock. I really have no plans on doing any substancial mods but I was thinking that the M1 would be the end-all solution to this intake problem because it uses no gaskets.

Thanks,

ZoSo

Yeah, you lose a bit in the low end, but not terribly. The The M1 really comes on above 4,000 rpm. Since you shouldn't tow in overdrive anyway, towing down the interstate will be good, you'll just have to dig a bit deeper when pulling out from a dead stop.

Along with the M1 install, add some 4:10 gears and you wont notice the bottom end loss whatsoever.

I have not towed anything with my truck but my M1 fits nicely behind the seats. Only problem is some times I'll drop some empty cartriges after out shooting and they get stuck under the seat.
