Message: Hey guys. When I first bought my truck, the cruise didn't work at all.I traced out the vacuum lines and found a broken one near the firewall. Now the cruise engages but it won't hold a steady speed. If I set it at 50 mph,it will surge up to 55 and then go down to about 45,then surge up to 55 again.Anyone have any ideas? Thanks.

Message: a small vacuum leak will do that. maybe there is still a small leak you missed.

Message: Test the vac lines with a tester. Pepboys offers one for loaner. I dont think advance/autozone does. At least here in GA.
I purchased one from Harbor Freight for cheap.

Message: Don't know where on yours there is a senser that monitors something like the speed or drive shaft or maybe it's on the tranny or dif. I have no idea but I'm guessing this senser is either defective or grounded inproper. Also might just be a lose connection. Reguardless somewhere you have this sensor to monitor your set speed
So many problems .... So little time
