Subject: Creaking Door When Cold Outside IP: Logged
Message: My passenger door is making a creaking noise when the outside temps drop below 45 degrees. I used a small piece of foam and wedged it in various places around the door seal until it quit. Perhaps the door seals/weatherstrip is collapsed and it gets worse with cold as it contracts? Anyone support that idea or have any suggestions?
Thanks 2000 R/T Club Cab

Message: I previously used STP silcone spray on all seals early in the fall (before the problem showed up). What brand is "heavy duty?"

Message: If its creaking when opening and closing, a little white grease on the hinges should take care of it.

Message: Heh, I should be so lucky with a door creak. It's been 17 F at our home in the Seattle-Tacoma area for the past 4 days. The rear end of my '04 Quad 4x4 sounds like it's about to separate from the frame it's creakin' and groanin' so loud....
I don't think "heavy duty" STP or any other spray lubricant is going to solve this problem....

Message: Another thought..... The arm between the hinges that keeps the door from opening to far can rub when opening and closing the door. DOOR EZ is best for this. same stuff you use on your door latches .

Message: Thanks ya'll! I love Wal-mart :) I'll have to swing by and get the heavy duty stuff. p.s. door creaks while driving, not opening and closing. Over the weekend I did some door-to-body gap checking in accordance with factory shop manual. It appears that the door gap at the top of the window is too big so I'm thinking I might adjust the door to close tighter. Then I noticed a door latch adjustment in the manual. It just so happens that I replaced both latches/door lock assemblies last summer so I did the latch alignment thingy. The door seems to close a bit tighter but I won't be able to check it since the temps are staying above 55 overnight! Ahhhh...Florida!
